Every renovation questions our relationship with the existing: what to remove, what to preserve, and what to elevate? From these decisions emerge the traces upon which the project will anchor itself and grow.
This questioning takes on a unique dimension when merging two apartments, one of which is preserved in its original state. How to extend without merely imitating? Which details, patterns, or materials should be transposed, softened, or reinvented from one space to the other? How to reinterpret without creating a disconnect?
The project resolves this equation by playing on these resonances: borrowing an openwork pattern here, reusing oak there—sometimes natural, sometimes treated—it aims for global coherence in this new space, despite being completed in phases.
